Aviation Travel & Logistics Holding Ltd invites qualified, competent, and motivated candidates to apply for the position of Electrical Engineer. The role will support the design, coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, and technical oversight of electrical systems for ATL projects, including aviation, airport, logistics, and related infrastructure projects.

Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineer will provide professional engineering expertise in the design, coordination, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems across ATL projects. The role will ensure that electrical infrastructure and systems are safe, reliable, energy-efficient and fit for continuous airport operations, while complying with ICAO requirements, applicable Rwandan regulations, approved designs and international engineering standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities;

a. Electrical Design & Engineering

1. Develop, review and coordinate electrical designs, drawings, calculations, specifications and technical documentation for ATL facilities, projects, and infrastructure.
2. Ensure electrical systems meet airport operational requirements, approved project specifications, applicable codes and relevant international standards.
3. Review design proposals and technical submissions and recommend technically sound, safe and cost-effective solutions.
4. Support design development, value engineering and technical optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.

b. Electrical Systems & Infrastructure

1. Provide technical oversight for electrical systems including power generation, medium- and low-voltage distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, lighting, emergency power and earthing systems.
2. Coordinate electrical requirements for terminal buildings, airside and landside facilities, utilities and other airport infrastructure.
3. Ensure appropriate redundancy, reliability and resilience are incorporated into critical airport electrical systems.
4. Coordinate electrical interfaces with mechanical, civil, structural, ICT, aviation systems and other specialist disciplines.

c. Construction Supervision & Technical Assurance

1. Monitor installation and construction activities to ensure compliance with approved electrical designs, drawings, specifications and method statements.
2. Conduct site inspections and verify workmanship, materials, equipment and installation quality.
3. Review contractor shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, inspection and test plans and technical queries.
4. Identify defects, non-conformances and technical issues and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
5. Provide technical guidance to contractors and coordinate resolution of electrical engineering challenges.

d. Aviation Safety, Compliance & Standards

1. Ensure electrical systems comply with applicable ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices, Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority requirements, national regulations and recognised international electrical standards.
2. Ensure appropriate electrical safety, fire protection, emergency power, lightning protection, earthing and equipment protection measures are incorporated.
3. Support regulatory inspections, technical reviews, approvals and compliance assessments.
4. Identify electrical safety and compliance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

e. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

1. Develop and review testing and commissioning requirements for electrical systems and equipment.
2. Witness and verify testing of power generation, distribution, protection, lighting, emergency power and other critical electrical systems.
3. Support system commissioning, integrated testing and operational readiness activities.
4. Review test certificates, commissioning records, as-built drawings and operation and maintenance documentation.
5. Support snagging, defect rectification and final handover of electrical systems.

f. Energy Efficiency & Sustainability

1. Support the implementation of energy-efficient and sustainable electrical solutions across ATL projects.
2. Evaluate opportunities for energy optimisation, renewable energy integration, intelligent lighting and efficient power management.
3. Provide technical input into energy performance, lifecycle cost and sustainability considerations.
4. Support monitoring and improvement of electrical energy consumption and system efficiency.

g. Project Coordination & Risk Management

1. Monitor electrical engineering deliverables, construction progress and technical milestones.
2. Identify design, construction, supply and interface risks affecting electrical systems and recommend mitigation measures.
3. Provide technical input into variations, claims, design changes and contractor proposals.
4. Coordinate with project controls, quantity surveying and commercial teams on electrical works and technical changes.
5. Support achievement of project scope, quality, cost, safety and schedule objectives.

h. Technical Reporting & Documentation

1. Prepare technical reports, site inspection reports, design review comments and progress updates.
2. Maintain accurate records of electrical drawings, calculations, inspections, tests, approvals and technical decisions.
3. Track outstanding technical issues, non-conformances, design changes and corrective actions.
4. Provide professional technical advice and recommendations to project leadership.

1. > Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
2. > Professional registration with the relevant Rwandan engineering professional body and a valid practising licence, where applicable, is required.
3. Minimum 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably in major infrastructure, airports, transportation, commercial, industrial or other critical infrastructure projects.
4. > Proven experience in the design, supervision and delivery of large-scale electrical systems, including power generation and distribution, MV/LV systems, substations, emergency power, lighting, earthing and electrical safety systems.
5. > Strong knowledge of ICAO requirements, applicable Rwandan regulations and recognised international electrical standards, with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers.
